Some "Bead Dream" entries for 2015 June 20, 2015 / wayne robbins First Place winner in her category....Kinga Nichols. Definetly a unique piece.......3-D head dress. Here are a few entries for this year's competition at the Bead and Button Show in Milwaukee. This is just a portion of the finished piece. It had very long feathers coming off the back of the necklace which extended up and over the top of the wearer's head by perhaps a foot or so. I think this was the year of the skulls. Another winner. A very bold piece and nicely done by the artist, Betty Stephan. Some more head gear. This piece is by Melissa Shippee. This piece won second place in it's category. It was created by Svetiana Kossman. Sherry Serafini never ceases to amaze us with her creative ability. This is a little out of focus but you can get the drift. A good majority of the pieces in the "Bead Dreams" competition are seed bead work. This piece was created by Keiko Wada. I like the way she has utilized the fabric. The embellishment on this top hat was created by Kathy Cosgrove. This piece was created by Sue Horine who is known for her large breast plate style necklaces. I believe the piece took a first place in it's category. I feel like this piece should go to the opera. This piece was created by Francesca Walton. The photo is rather dark but I hope you can see the interesting treatment utilizing the caning. Not all entries are jewelry. This is a very well done beaded bowl by Ellen Soloman. Another embellished bowl by Ellen Soloman. This is one of my favorite polymer artists, Stacy Smith. I believe this piece won first place in it's category. Here is another wonderful piece by polymer artist, Stacy Smith. A very nice beaded container by Hannah Rosner.
